Our story began at the most romantic place imaginable: a university career fair. Carlos, a bright-eyed master's student hoping to become a software engineer, walked up to the Morningstar booth to pitch his resume. There he met Sabrina, a sharp software engineer who was everything he aspired to be. She took his resume... and his heart (cheesy, we know, but it's true!). He was hoping for a job; she was just hoping he'd ask for her number.

 

    From there, our lives merged in a crash course of cultural exchange: Jamón vs. frijoles on everything. Sabrina also took on the monumental task of becoming Carlos's personal stylist, heroically rescuing his wardrobe from a sea of questionable choices. We accidentally built a life together in Chicago, and while we spent our time collecting passport stamps, we also built our own chosen family with the incredible friends who made this city feel like home (and who graciously let us treat their apartments like our personal clubhouses).

 

    Then came the real bosses of the household: Pepino and Frida, our two ridiculously charming (and stubborn) mini dachshunds. They now run our lives, demand a strict treat schedule, and serve as professional lap-warmers.

 

    On August 9th, 2025, Carlos managed to pull off the surprise of a lifetime. After months of secret planning, he gathered our favorite people and proposed. Sabrina ugly-cried (happy tears, she swears) and said yes, probably because she realized it meant a lifetime of Rioja.

 

    Now, we’re making it official and dragging you all to Guatemala to celebrate! Get your passports ready for a trip filled with incredible food, maybe some volcano-spotting, and definitely some questionable dancing. We can’t wait to party with you!
